Silent Grosh
Groshong (Silent Grosh) is a DJ / producer based out of Portland, Oregon. Silent Grosh is a well rounded versatile DJ who’s ear bending performances feature bass rich electronic breaks, UK garage, and multiple shades of house music all tied together seamlessly with unclassifiable syncopations and unique two-step. With an acute sense of frequency and a fondness for hidden hints of the familiar, Silent Grosh is able to layer his selections with space enough for classic elements to shine, while creating mixes that highlight unusually symbiotic combinations that radiate through the dance floor. Behind the mixer Silent Grosh is an experienced technician who has an exceptional ability to read the room and the experience to improvise, leading to tasteful selections which respect the past and cater to the future.
Born and raised in Portland, Groshong grew up a music lover and an avid collector of the many sounds he enjoys. Spoiled by the well rounded and accessible pop music of the time Silent Grosh surrounded themself with the sounds of Hip Hop, R & B, and electronic dance music. With a strong desire to deepen his relationship with music, as well as share it with others, Silent Grosh began to DJ and has been doing so ever since.
During their early DJ years Silent Grosh spent a lot of time attending events and enjoying parties from the dance floor, all the while learning and honing the craft as a selector. Eventually Silent Grosh began performing and sharing vibes around the Portland dance music scene, in addition to holding residencies as a DJ and a band member at several locations along the way.
In 2017 Silent Grosh Co founded the Nu Habitat collective and continues throwing events with this group of DJ’s, producers, and friends today. As a party builder, Silent Grosh specializes in curating daytime and outdoor dance music based events. Prior to making spaces with Nu Habitat Groshong was creator and lead engineer behind the notorious Caterpillar Island renegade which later evolved into the intimate Cocoon music festival.
Although curating and building events is deeply fulfilling, and something he continues to do, Silent Grosh is happiest selecting tunes and performing in front of dance floors where he is most as peace.
